I sent a letter out on March 25th updating all of you on how we were handling Covid-19 as a small art business and the feedback was tremendous: Reflecting on the Past to Inform Our Future, By Heather Becker. I wanted to give all of you an update on what has transpired since then.
The staff is the making of our company
As soon as we were able to do so, we invited every one of our staff members to return to the laboratory. We were proud to be able to offer every employee their position back when we became fully operational on May 5th. This retention of staff is critical to our mission as they are the talent that executes the amazing work product we produce day after day. The core of our strategy has been sustaining workflow and team members, which has been very hard but we continue to climb that mountain with a positive attitude because these are the basic essentials of this company.
Our space is a pivotal part of our brand and creative environment
After working with Jeanne Gang and Studio Gang Architects to create our incredible state-of-the-art laboratory, we all learned something important in that process. Our work environment, coalesced with our team, makes for a thriving breeding ground of learning and creativity -- shared among the team. This allows people that love what they do to flourish even under this time of turmoil and uncertainty, and we knew it was essential to be back in the labs with our talented hands and eyes working away.
What is missing?
Since Covid-19 started in March, we have not been able to have visitors, tours, or events. Clients drop things off in our parking lot, and we are operational with local and national pick-ups and on-sites. We are so used to being educational and sharing our work in process historically, so we thought why not create a new video to share with all of you, since we cannot interact with you the way we did prior. So here is a creative piece by our team, about all of the departments and the facility. We just completed this and wanted to share it with you. It is 9 minutes long and I think you will thoroughly enjoy this new video.
What is next?
Well, in a completely uncertain world, we are going to continue to do what we love to do every day to make our world a better place. That is the best possible thing we can do right now to make a difference. We will remain strong, resilient as a team, and we will come out the other side of this better, stronger, and more creative than ever before – so stay tuned.
